A complete set of 4 new notes released on 20.1.2014. These notes
replaced those previously issued since the late 60s. The four new notes
comprise 500, 1000, 5000 and 10000 Francs. These notes are not as
colourful as those previously printed, and needless to say, previous
designs are much nicer. The sizes are also much smaller too. Well, this
is only my personal opinion. The French Pacific Territories comprises French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Wallis & Futuna with a total
combined population of approx. 540,000+/-. The issuance of banknotes for
the French Pacific Territories region is the responsibility of it's
central bank, the Institut d'émission d'Óutre-Mer (IEOM), which is based
in Paris, France. IEOM was founded in December 1996 and empowered to
issue banknotes and coins for the French Pacific Territories. The CFP
(aka Franc) was first introduced in 1945 due to the weakness of the
French Franc after the end of the Second World War. The currency code of
the CFP is XPF and it's value is pegged to the Euro at 1 XPF = 0.00838
Euro cent. A whole set is worth €138+ face value.
