Republic of Fiji
(since 1987)
(since 1987)
Reserve Bank of Fiji
Currency - Dollar (FJD)
Here is a full set of specimen notes issued between 1995 and 1996. The set comprises 5 notes and this is the first time a $50 is issued. The $1 note was not issued and was replaced by a coin. The portrait of the Queen printed on these notes was taken by photographer Terry O'Neill in 1992. Apart from Fiji, this portrait was also used on banknotes issued by Gibraltar, Guernsey, Bermuda and Bahamas (modified) too.
It appears that this set was issued in at least 2 or even more stages, with the $5 first released in 1995. The reason I am saying this as the way the word "SPECIMEN" is not uniformly printed on all the notes. For the $2 and $50 notes, the word "SPECIMEN" is printed with an orientation style of 30 degrees up from left to right whilst the rest are printed with -30 degrees down from left to right.
