Two notes from the series of 1973. This series went on until 1989 when it was replaced by the 1992 series issued by the then newly formed, the National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT).
 
Like those previously issued, the 1973 series are all printed with a date and it went on until 1989 when the National Reserve Bank of Tonga was established on 01.07.1989. Since then, the NRBT took over the responsibility of issuing all banknotes in the country. NRBT commenced releasing Tongan banknotes in 1992 with all banknotes printed without the dates.
