Here is the complete set of 5 specimen notes all first issued in 1980. The notes posted here are the $1, $2, $5, $10 and $20. For the first time, the designs on the back for each note are not the same. All notes are issued with four hole-punch "cancelled" located one each at all four corners of the notes. All notes are of the same size - 156mm x 67mm.
The signatures on the notes belonged to David J Barnes and HJ Tomkins. Tomkins was the general manager who was managing the bank between 1977 to 1980. Like his predecessor RA Earland, Tomkins was also seconded from the Bank of England. He was also the last seconded Englishman to manage the Fijian central bank.
These were the last issue by the Central Monetary Authority of Fiji and in 1983, the Reserve Bank of Fiji was formed with Savenaca Siwatibau (b.1940-2003) appointed as the new bank governor. Savenaca Siwatibau was the first local born native Fijian appointed to the role.

*David J Barnes's tenure at the central bank is based on my observation of his signature appearing on the banknotes. In my opinion, his association with the bank was much longer as his signature also appeared in the 1990 Reserve Bank of Fiji annual report dated 28.03.1991 as Executive Director.
