.Fiji - (nd)1989-1991 Set of 4 Specimen Notes, s. Ratu Jone Yavala Kubuabola

Republic of Fiji
(since 1987)

Reserve Bank of Fiji
Currency - Dollar (FJD)

Here are the 4 specimen notes first issued in 1989*. This series consists of 4 notes - $1, $2, $5 and $10 (nd1991). This series is all printed with a fractional prefix i.e. D/18 000000 just like all previous issues. However, this is also the last time such prefix format is printed as all issues after this were all printed with a single or double letter prefixes. All notes are measured at 156mm x 67mm.

The first 3 notes were released in 1989 and the $10 was issued in 1991. This is the last time a $1 banknote is issued by the central bank. The colour printed on this $1 note is predominantly green. Previous note was printed in light brown colour.

Footnote➦
*I understand that many websites or even banknotes catalogues have listed these notes as nd1991. However I have reason to believe these were actually first released in 1989 and the $10 was released in 1991. A reprint of this series was issued in 1992 with additional segmented foil over the security strip added to the notes. Only 3 notes issued in 1992 - $5, $10 and $20.
