Solomon Islands
Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI since 1983)
Currency : Dollar (SBD)
Specimen series - s. Rick N Houenipwela and Warren Paia.
Posted below are four specimen notes from the C series issued in 1996 of $2, $10, $20 and $50. Here I am missing the $5 specimen note. This missing $5 was released in 1997. The governor's signature printed on these notes belonged to Rick N Houenipwela (tenure 1993-2008), and Director Warren Paia.
It is not sure if Warren Paia is related to Willie G Paia. If they are related (son and father), then they may be also related to the former bank Governor Anthony V Hughes. I have a feeling that Anthony Hughes is married to Kuria Paia, who is also the daughter of Willie G Paia. I could be wrong here! Finding out who the people behind all these signatures is not easy, especially those banknotes issued shortly after gaining independence from the British.
The designs on these notes are actually the same as those issued in 1986, except with new signatures and the serial numbers are printed in ascending format. This series was later replaced by the 2006 series.
Each of these notes is printed with the word 'SPECIMEN' twice on the front, and also twice on the back.
